Congratulations to the following students for being the recipients of our scholarship awards for 2017:
- Kathy Christopher H.O.W. Scholarship Recipient: Shaquala Jones
My name is Shaquala Jones and I am a graduate of Oak Ridge High School and I am currently a student at Rollins College. At Rollins, I am pursing a major in Psychology and minor in Business Management. When I finish my Degree, I plan on taking one of two paths. The first path involves me going to UCF and obtaining a Masters Degree in Social Work and from there starting my own non-profit organization. This organization would help foster care children who have not been adopted and are about to age out of the system gain the necessary skills they need to be a productive member of society. The second path is me staying at Rollins and getting my Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling and still going ahead with the non-profit, but add on to that to include helping inner city children who have mental health issues get the help they need, but may not have the necessary resources to get.
